Cathy and I have discovered that the process of self-publishing a book can be a bit of a nightmare. The hold-ups and mistakes can become so frustrating that it’s easy to lose track of the book itself! What’s more, it has caused us from time to time to forget why we wrote the book in the first place. The challenges of everyday life are like that — they can seem so big that we lose sight of what is meaningful in our lives.
In these moments, it helps to broaden our perspective so that we can see the big picture. I like to use what I call the helicopter view. You simply climb into an imaginary helicopter and rise high enough in the air to see your entire life path. How big does your current situation look compared to the rest of your life? Is it really as important as it seemed to be a moment ago?
On the other hand, what things do stand out on your path? And at the end of your life path, what will have been most important in your life?
When we feel stuck, frustrated, or in despair, the helicopter view can restore our perspective and help us to remember that this present situation, whatever it is, is only temporary. And it can help us to remember why we are here on this earth in the first place. It’s no accident that we are all here on earth at this time. Ours is a sacred purpose: to love one another, to raise the vibration of humanity and our planet, and to usher in an era of peace.
