Life is filled with ups and downs, twists and turns. What I would like to talk about today are the amazing ups and the tiny ups. Each time that we do something difficult and we reach a place of success, it is so important to celebrate. It is time to place a flag in the soil and say we achieved this. Even if things should go backward tomorrow, today we mark our place of success. Taking these moments “seriously” can be healing. Celebration is a time for noticing and remarking upon one’s success. It is a time for laughter over the hard times and the sticky moments. It is a time for jubilation over the high points and this moment in time. I can’t recommend celebration too much.
Many people sort of skip over the times for celebration, moving immediately to the next set of goals and the new to do list. Please reconsider. Take the time to truly appreciate the accomplishment at hand. Take the time to shout with joy and do the happy dance. All of these actions of course are instrumental in bringing your next goals into being because they move you into the highest possible energy for creation–joy. So it is actually a useful exercise. But I am encouraging it because we need to have our happy moments marked in time, to help us later when things are hard again. It is good to be able to look back and remember the celebration and to encourage ourselves that we will have that kind of moment again.
Celebration does not mean the road has ended. It simply means that the road has a point that is joyful and memorable. You have achieved something worth making note of and sharing with someone near and dear to you. Take your moment. Savor it. Remember it. And then move on to the next order of business, with a significantly lighter feeling in your heart.
